Thursday, January 27: Green Career Opportunity Showcase & Education Workshops

VISIT...

exhibits from organizations and companies in building/construction/design, manufacturing, agriculture, energy, waste/remediation and public administration – firms such as HOK, Monsanto, Microgrid Energy, Halcyon Shades and more.

LEARN...

about what courses are offered at area colleges and trade schools, including University of Missouri – Columbia, Saint Louis University, Lewis and Clark Colleges, St. Louis Community College, Southwestern Illinois College, SIU Edwardsville and other member schools in the Higher Education Sustainability Consortium.

PARTICIPATE...

in green education workshops to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of sustainability. The workshops will deliver the foundational understanding of the skill set required to begin building your green career. Participants will learn what green/sustainability knowledge and skills the region's leading employers are expecting from their current and future employees. The workshops will be taught by professors from the Center for Sustainability at Saint Louis University, in partnership with instructors from the St. Louis Higher Education Sustainability Consortium. 

Meet with counselors from Missouri Career Center and Illinois WorkNet and learn about internet tools, including the new StLouisGreenJobs.com website.

LOCATION...

Busch Student Center, Saint Louis University – at the corner of Grand Avenue and Laclede. Hosted by the Saint Louis University Center for Sustainability.

DIRECTIONS...

Accessible by Metro Link train and bus. Please consider car pooling. If driving, please park in one of the University’s safe and secure parking garages (Olive/Compton or Laclede/Grand) which have a maximum fee of $5 per day.  

DRESS...

to network with employers, educators and policy makers – no formal interviews will take place on site, no resumes necessary.
