350 International Day of Climate Action

Posted Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 by Craig

The number 350–as in parts per million, is the level scientists have identified as the safe upper limit for CO2 in our atmosphere. Currently we are at 385.9ppm which is why the day is taking place to create more awareness.  Here is a run down of all the events for the 350 International Day of Climate Action, www.stl350.com and www.350.org.

From 8:00 to 10:00 am there will be a prayer breakfast at Third Baptist Church on Grand at Olive. Please logon to www.stl350.com to rsvp now so they know how much food to prepare.

At 10:00, we will gather at Culver Way Ecovillage at 3965 Westminster Place to walk the 350 Labyrinth.

From there, many people will be BIKING to the rally at the Arch at noon.

At 2:00, JOIA will lead a parade from the south leg of the Arch to City Hall. You are welcome to create a climate costume and/or come on your BIKE and join the parade.

From 3:00 to 4:00, we will have a press conference at City Hall to announce the 2020 Climate Leadership Campaign in St. Louis. We have invited the Mayor and others to speak.

From 7:00 to 9:00 that evening, we will have a Launch Party at 21 O’Fallon, a LEED platinum building that is right at the beginning of the Riverfront BIKE trail, where we will launch the Eco City USA Campaign to have St. Louis be known at Eco City USA by 2020.
