White Roofs or Green Roofs?

It’s not a question that is considered a lot, but cities are moving away from the traditional black roof.  Black roofs absorb the heat from the sun, making buildings warmer.  This makes air conditioning use go up, hence electricity use goes up.

There are alternatives to the black roof–white or green.  Check out this post from conservationmagazine.org that helps you decide which roof works for you!
