We are Missouri's 1st Natural Burial Cemetery. A "green Cemetery" is different because it does not allow anything that is not bio-degradable to be buried. No metal, plastic, or any substance that is not able to revert back to a natural state by decomposing in the earth. The body cannot be embalmed, there are no vaults, marble or granite markers.

Only "native stone" can be inscribed and left at ground level. Only native plants and trees will be allowed. The land is to revert back to the way it was 200 to 250 years ago. No commercial development will be allowed. We are going to be "stewards" of the land. So that when you look over the land it will be as it was when Lewis and Clark first saw it...native grass, flowers, plants and trees. That is not to say we won't use modern technology such as GPS and sattlite mapping to provide a better method of location and layout of the "Natural Burial Site".

GREEN ACRES will be the ultimate way of going "Green" and it will be the first "Green Cemetery" in Missouri and one of only five or six so far in the U.S.
